WHAT iS ICF -  INTERNATIONAL COACHING FEDERATION?

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is widely recognized as the leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of the coaching profession. It sets high standards, provides independent certification, and builds a worldwide network of credentialed coaches across various coaching disciplines.

Established in 1995, ICF's mission is to build, support, and preserve the integrity of the coaching profession. This non-profit organization has its headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, but its reach extends far beyond. With over 40,000 members and more than 140 chapters in different countries  the ICF is truly a global entity.

The ICF provides three main levels of certification for coaches, which are Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC), and Master Certified Coach (MCC). These designations are regarded as significant achievements in a coach's career and a clear testament to their commitment to excellence in coaching.

Moreover, the ICF is committed to maintaining and promoting high ethical standards. The organization has a robust Code of Ethics and professional conduct review process, which all ICF members and ICF credential-holders are required to adhere to. This ensures that coaches affiliated with the ICF uphold the integrity of the profession and strive to provide the highest quality coaching.

The ICF also serves as a hub for information on coaching. Through resources like industry research, professional development opportunities, networking events, and the ICF blog, members have access to a wealth of knowledge that can help them enhance their coaching practices.

In addition, the ICF organizes annual global events like International Coaching Week and the ICF Converge conference, aimed at promoting and celebrating the coaching profession while providing learning and networking opportunities for its members.

In a nutshell, the International Coaching Federation plays a pivotal role in the global coaching community. By providing credentialing, enforcing high ethical standards, fostering a vibrant community, and offering professional development opportunities, the ICF helps to legitimize and professionalize the field of coaching, making it a trusted choice for individuals and organizations seeking coaching services.
